Eagles RB Saquon Barkley assured he won't be traded: 'I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it'

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was reassured by the front office that he won’t be traded ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline. "When that message was relayed to me, it definitely does mean a lot," Barkley said following Sunday night's 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders, via ESPN. "The whole time my mindset was, we have a little issue going on right now, and I feel like I'm the type of player and the type of leader that can help us get out of it, and I want to be one of the reasons why we fix it." NFL Network reported Sunday that the Eagles won’t trade Barkley despite a six-game losing skid that has sent them to the bottom of the NFC East. Barkley wants to stay in Philly as they work to turn things around. “I would love to be here,” Barkley said, via The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I plan on being here. The way the season’s going, I’m not one of those guys that’s like, ‘Oh, the season’s not going the way we [want], let’s just jump ship.’ That’s not the type of person I am.” Kevin Patra Senior News Writer

Lawyers say Packers' Josh Jacobs has 'tangible evidence' disputing allegations from other women

Lawyers say Packers' Josh Jacobs has 'tangible evidence' disputing allegations from other women

Lawyers for Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs say he has a “substantial body of tangible evidence” disputing the allegations three women made against him while police were investigating his battery case. Jacobs pleaded no contest on Sept. 10 to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property stemming from a May altercation with his then-girlfriend, who said he threw her to the ground. In response to a public records request, the Hobart-Lawrence (Wisconsin) Police Department released records from their investigation Friday night that included the accounts of three other women who reported similar allegations from years before. After spending the first six games of the season on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, which prevented him from playing or practicing, Jacobs has returned to play in the Packers’ last two games. The NFL has said its investigation into Jacobs is ongoing, which means he still could be subject to more discipline from the league. Jacobs’ lawyers -- David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence F. Duchac III -- issued a statement Saturday noting that the Brown County District Attorney’s office had “these uncorroborated, old, and previously unreported allegations for months.” They issued another statement Sunday that went into more detail. “Josh took responsibility for what happened in May,” the lawyers said. “He entered into an agreement with prosecutors for two misdemeanors, and he is meeting the court’s requirements. “The three accounts are old, are hearsay, and easily disproven, yet released to the media by police without any investigation to determine whether they were accurate or contradicted by evidence. Josh is answering them in detail because of the character assassination that is occurring, unfairly threatening his career.” Jacobs’ lawyers said that one of the three women made a claim to the NFL, which reviewed it and decided no action was warranted. They said Jacobs “has kept evidence that supports his accounts and the NFL’s decision.”

Minnesota Suffers First Defeat: 3 Takeaways From The Lions' Win Over The Vikings

Minnesota Suffers First Defeat: 3 Takeaways From The Lions' Win Over The Vikings

The 1972 Dolphins can celebrate once again. The NFL’s last undefeated team went down with the Vikings going down in Detroit in what was mostly a low-scoring slog until the fourth quarter. The 19-15 win was somewhat overshadowed by a scary injury to linebacker Jack Campbell, who was carted off the field after colliding with a teammate. He was one of several defensive starters who left the game for the Lions. It didn’t seem to matter, though. The Vikings offense, and Kyler Murray in particular, continued to struggle, and the defense, which has been carrying the team all season, finally buckled in the second half, allowing Jahmyr Gibbs to run wild.
